All Pro Tour Heads to Fort Smith, AR for United Way Classic
Dallas, TX - The All Pro Tour (APT) will be coming to Fort Smith, AR to partner with the United Way for the United Way Classic. The United Way Classic presented by the United Way of Fort Smith Area will feature over 100 of the best PGA hopefuls competing at Hardscrabble Country Club, the host site for 13 PGA Nationwide Tour events.
“We are excited to host the 5th Annual United Way Classic again this year at the beautiful Hardscrabble Country Club in Fort Smith! Our partnership with the All Pro Tour is so vital to the community and clients we serve in Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma. Since the inaugural tournament in 2020, the United Way Classic has raised $333,000 for United Way partner agencies and provided an economic impact of over $2 million to our area. These incredible totals would not be possible without the All Pro Tour staff and players, Hardscrabble Country Club, volunteers, sponsors and United Way partner agencies. For those in attendance, they can expect to watch over 140 professional golfers as they compete for the title of tournament champion and receive the 1st place prize. The United Way Classic will be the fifth event of the 2024 APT season. The tournament will be held May 8th - 11th, 2024 at Hardscrabble Country Club. The week will include a 72-hole championship finishing on Saturday, May 11th. The tournament purse is expected to be $130,000 with the tournament champion taking home a guaranteed minimum of $20,000.

About Hardscrabble Country Club
Designed by renowned golf course architect Perry Maxwell, our course was built in 1926 on the former site of Hardscrabble Farm, a fruit orchard. The course was renovated in 1998 by Jay and Carter Morrish, updating the bunkers and greens to the modern game while preserving the layout. Hardscrabble golf has a rich history. In 1930, C.B. (Jess) Willard initiated the Hardscrabble Invitational Tournament. Over the years, the tournament became the C.B. Willard Memorial Tournament and then the Southwest Amateur Championship for the Willard Memorial Trophy. The same tournament continues today as our 4-Ball Invitational, one of the best golf events in the region. The Hardscrabble Open, also known as the Hardscrabble Women’s Invitation, was a golf tournament played at the Hardscrabble Golf Club in Fort Smith, Arkansas from 1945 to 1953. It was an official LPGA Tour event from 1948 to 1950. Many famous lady players attended a meeting here and legend is that the LPGA Tour was born out of those meetings and this event. Past winners of the Hardscrabble Open include Patty Berg, Babe Zaharias, and Betty Jameson.
