Round 2 Recap: Coushatta Open

(Kinder, LA) - Today's round treated players and spectators to a rollercoaster of weather conditions and leaderboard drama.

As dawn broke, competitors faced a bone-chilling start to the day, with temperatures dipping to uncomfortable lows. However, just as the afternoon wave teed off, a welcome sight emerged – the sun pierced through the frosty morning, promising a perfect day ahead.

The weather wasn't the only challenge on the course, though. The notorious downwind conditions added an extra layer of complexity, making shot selection and strategy paramount for success.

Early in the morning, Zach James (Whitesboro, TX) wasted no time heating up the course, firing an impressive 3-under-par round, bringing his total to 7 under par, neck and neck with AJ Ott.

However, as the day progressed, the competition intensified. Fred Wedel (The Woodlands, TX)  showcased his prowess, carding a remarkable 5-under-par round, propelling him to a total of 9 under par and seizing the solo lead.

But the drama didn't stop there. John Sand (Hoquiam, WA) made a significant move up the leaderboard with a stellar 6-under-par round, snatching the lead away from Wedel and claiming the new solo spot at the top.

Meanwhile, Andrew Beckler (Topeka, KS)  staged an extraordinary comeback, climbing a staggering 71 spots on the leaderboard with a blistering 6-under-par performance. His remarkable play not only brought him inside the cut line but also injected fresh excitement into the tournament.

Not to be outdone, Gabe Lysen (Scottsdale, AZ) put on a masterclass of his own, shooting 6 under par and climbing a remarkable 83 spots on the leaderboard. His stellar performance secured his spot in the final two rounds of the Coushatta Open, demonstrating the unpredictable nature of golf and the resilience of its players.

With the leaderboard constantly shifting and the competition heating up, tomorrow promises another exhilarating day of golf as the players vie for victory at the Coushatta Open. Stay tuned for more updates and highlights as the tournament unfolds.

The third round will begin tomorrow at 8:00 AM CT with players being sorted by score, with the leaders teeing off last.
